Victoria Avi

Victoria Avi manages programs for the Sustainable Business Center, and Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. In this role, she supports the Outreach and Engagement Centers work in sustainability, entrepreneurship, and social innovation. She joined the Outreach and Engagement Centers team in 2012 and has been a part of the Cleveland State University community since 2002. A transplant from Baku, Azerbaijan, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design at CSU, and a Masters in Environmental Studies at the CSU’s Levin College of Urban Affairs. She is also a recent graduate of the Center for Social Impact Strategy Certificate Program at University of Pennsylvania. Victoria’s research, teaching, and work centers on creating sustainable businesses and communities through social innovation and ecosystem building, and she is devoted to making Cleveland a better, more prosperous and equitable place.

Her favorite pastimes are hiking with her dog, gardening, travelling and being an active civic member of Cleveland.


James Deiotte

James Deiotte, CPA, CMA, JD and MBA, two-time Cleveland State University College of Business alumnus (BBS Accounting in 1980 and MBA in 1984) and recently retired partner of EY. Jim has been an ambassador for EY throughout his career working closely with many of the largest companies in the world, a variety of U.S. governmental agencies and EY colleagues in over 50 countries. Jim most recently served as EY’s Regional Tax Leader of Africa and was on EY’s EMEIA and Global Tax Leadership teams. Jim was responsible for driving the localization of capabilities and independence of EY tax operations in Sub-Saharan Africa, spanning more than 30 countries. He may be one of the most traveled alumni from Cleveland State University, having previously led EY’s Central and Eastern European Compliance and Reporting practice.

Colette Hart

Colette Hart is Senior Director of the Centers for Outreach & Engagement in the Monte Ahuja College of Business at Cleveland State University. In her capacity as Senior Director, she is responsible for establishing Centers of Excellence in the College of Business that provide responsive and strategic business educational programs for the Northeast Ohio business community. Colette was instrumental in establishing the Global Business Center and securing over a million dollars in funding to develop interdisciplinary academic, research and outreach programs focused on applied international business education.  The Global Business Center is the 2006 recipient of the Ohio Governors Export Award and the 2010 Certificate of Appreciation for Achievement in Trade from the U.S. Department of Commerce, and the 2011 President’s “E” Award.

Colette brings a global frame of reference to her work through her extensive experience engaged in economic development, small business, trade, and education initiatives throughout Europe, China and Chile. Colette serves on the Northern Ohio District Export Council, NASBITE International Board of Governors, Jumpstart Higher Education Council, and the Corporate Sustainable Network Steering Committee. She obtained her MBA at Cleveland State University and her BA in International Relations and Political Science at the University of Wisconsin.


Matthew Iorio

 Clinical Operations Manager
Neuros Medical, Inc.
Matthew is a champion of the start-up community in Cleveland. Currently, he works at Neuros Medical Inc., a neuromodulation company developing an implantable medical device focused on the elimination of chronic pain in lower limb amputees. At Neuros, Matthew is responsible for the development and continuous improvement of clinical research processes, guidelines, tools, and their implementation. He also manages day-to-day clinical trial execution, including clinical site support, data collection and analysis, and clinical materials logistics. He has a broad skill-set and experience in medical devices, clinical research, operations, market research, open innovation, technology transfer, and venture capital. Matthew holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University with a focus in medical devices and algorithm development as well as an MBA from Cleveland State University with a focus in marketing.

Raj Javalgi

Raj Javalgi is Professor of Marketing and teaches the International Business Strategy course. His areas of interest are International Marketing, International Business, Marketing Research, Multivariate Statistical Methods, and Marketing Management. Raj Javalgi has published in such journals as Journal of International Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Consumer Research, International Business Review, Thunderbird International Business Review. Some of his articles have received best paper of the year awards. Recently, Raj has received two Business International Education grants in a row, totaling $380,000, to build and sustain international business programming. His broad work experience includes assisting SMEs with their International Marketing strategy.


Roger Klee

Originally from Toledo, OH, Roger obtained his education from the University of Alabama. Roll Tide! He has worked as a financial analyst, accounting consultant, and as a Manager of Financial and Strategic Operations. He teaches corporate finance, investments, derivatives, insurance, and personal finance in the Monte Ahuja College of Business.

Rachel Pankiw

Rachel is a marketing communications professional with expertise in branding, media relations, content marketing, and marketing strategy. She is a proud CSU alum where she received her MBA in Marketing along with a graduate certificate in Marketing Analytics in 2016. She’s worked in a variety of account management roles at different agencies and marketing vendors with a focus on retail and consumer brands.  She currently works as a Marketing Communications Manager at Speedeon Data, a databased marketing firm in Cleveland, where she’s responsible for driving the implementation of all marketing content. She’s also hosting the 14th annual JemCon in Cleveland in August 2018 so if you’re a fan of the 80s be sure to talk to her. This is her third year helping with StartUp Vikes.

Blaise Roncagli

Dr. Roncagli has been a lecturer with the Department of Finance at CSU since Fall 2011. Prior to that, he spend 30 years in the software industry working for firms like Hyland Software, Rockwell Automation, Sensormatic Electronics, Digital Equipment Corporation and Thorn Automated Systems. He has also worked for several startup firms, one of which was an IT consulting firm he founded with two partners in the early years of his career. Working with small startup firms established his interest in how small firms make their financing and investment decisions, which was the subject of his doctoral dissertation. Dr. Roncagli teaches courses in Corporate Finance, International Finance and Financial Markets and Institutions. He has maintained the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification since 1998.

Christine Rinto Mapus

Chris is the Communications Design Specialist at the Monte Ahuja College of Business. In this role, she is responsible for “making things look good”: developing and designing marketing collateral and assets to support the College. She also has extensive experience designing comprehensive print and digital collateral for large organizations such as University Hospitals and startups such as Forest City Brewery. She is responsible for the StartUp Vikes “look and feel” and extends her talent to assisting event participants with logo design. She has a BFA from Bowling Green State University and an MBA from Cleveland State University.

Meghan Salkin is the Special Programs Coordinator for the Centers for Outreach Engagement in the Monte Ahuja College of Business. She obtained her BA in Political Science and her MAGI (Master of Arts in Global Interactions) from Cleveland State University. In her role, she is responsible for planning, logistics, finance and communications for the Centers numerous programs and special events.

Katie’s main mission is to support local small businesses that are a critical component and major contributor to the strength of local economies. Focusing on the amazing entrepreneurs in our beloved CLE, her time is spent on supporting their successes.

For the past 9 years, she has worked in the entrepreneurial world; currently as the Director of the CSU Small Business Development Center, and previously as an Entrepreneur Advisor, providing assistance, training and advising to local businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs. She has also created many entrepreneurial experiential learning opportunities and training for entrepreneurs, corporate and academic entities. Katie has developed curriculum in entrepreneurship, as well as taught business and marketing classes for ten years as an adjunct faculty member of the Business Division at Lorain County Community College.

She earned her MBA from Cleveland State University and got her start at Ernst & Young as an eLearning Consultant and Instructional Designer and new hire trainer.

In her spare time, Katie supports the local economy by shopping and eating locally, cooking plant based meals, and enjoying time with her husband and children.


Danielle Vath

Danielle Vath, M.Ed., is the new Manager for External Relations and Communications for the Washkewicz College of Engineering. In this role, Vath will be responsible for the external relations program for the College that includes public relations, communications, alumni relations and the senior design program. Vath previously served as the Coordinator for Cooperative Education Program for the Washkewicz College of Engineering. She earned her undergraduate degree in communication from the University of Toledo and her Master of Education in Higher Education Administration and College Student Personnel from Kent State University.
